Comments
A lot of excitement rippled through the online Beatle fan communtity when it was announced that a brand new Beatles Christmas recording was going to be released.

Unfortunately, the website selling this disc seems to have been taken offline. So the only way to get this at the moment is by trading.

"The Lost Beatles Message"
This is an abandoned attempt at making an Xmas record. Various sound effects are played into the studio for the Beatles to improvise witty conversation over, eg. Wind and Rain, a fog horn. Excellent listening
Unavailable elsewhere. (As far as I know)

La Monte Young The Tamburas of Pandit Pran Nath (AGP161)

Don't remember where I found this one...

AGP161 is the fourth installment featuring the work of the legendary pioneering minimalist composer La Monte Young. This one comprises The Tamburas Of Pandit Pran Nath, with Marian Zazeela. It will appeal to all those people who, while listening to Indian Classical Music, have wished that the sitars and vinas would just stop their noodling and let the rich timbres of the tamburas cascade out on their own. It is the droniest of drone music.

I was only given the data files, so I have no scans of the liner notes. I have appended below everything I was readily able to find out about this release. For more information on La Monte Young, see the Wikipedia article on him, or visit his website at : http://www.melafoundation.org/lmy.htm

La Monte Young & Marian Zazeela - The Tamburas Of Pandit Pran Nath
Label: Just Dreams
Catalog#: JD 001
Format: CD, Enhanced
Country: US
Released: 1999

01 - "82 VII 15 C. 6:35-7:35PM + C. 6:37-6:52PM NYC"     [1:13:58]

NOTES FROM THE CD:

Recorded by La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela in 1982, it is made available in a limited edition on CD as an homage to their guru. This recording was used by Pandit Pran Nath for his own practice for many years. Accompanied by a booklet that includes two color and seven black and white photographs as well as extensive documentation prepared by Young and Zazeela regarding the origins and history of the Tambura and its significance in the Indian classical vocal style of Kirana as practiced and taught by Pandit Pran Nath, this 74-minute CD represents Young's best recorded tambura tuning. In his introduction to the notes, Terry Riley writes, "This recording is an invaluable artifact, destined to become a cherished classic, valued for years to come by those able to appreciate the subtle vibratory qualities of this High Art."

The tamburas are played at Jora Sa 120 Hz, Pa 90 Hz, Kuraj Sa 60 Hz (low B pitch).

This is a custom First CD Edition limited to the number that can be personally supervised by La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela. The 44-page printed booklet and silkscreened disc are packaged inside a double-size plastic CD jewel case.

NOTE: To the best of my knowledge, these recordings are not currently available commercially. If you know otherwise, please let me know ASAP, as I do not wish any artists to be deprived of the royalties that they so richly deserve.
